As a child I wondered around in awe and silence as I looked in every corner of the museum and read every placard I could find. I spent more time in that museum than in all of the others combined. Not only is our nation's capital a worthy destination just for the museums, there are plenty of other things to see and do. Form pro sporting events, to site seeing tours, the mix of history and education can't be beat.

While tours of the White House and Capital buildings have been scaled back in recent years, there are still plenty of historical sites and destinations. Just the monuments are worth the trip. There is nothing more awe inspiring than standing in the Lincoln and Jefferson memorials. They showcase the importance and brilliance of some of the most influential people in not only US history, but world history. Take a ride to the top of the Washington monument and you will get one of the best views of the capital that is available. It is a perfect post card moment.

They also have to consider that they're not in the air alone that there are other planes up there with them and this is usually around the 10,000 feet mar. There are times when the pilots will be given alternate instructions to what they are to use to as far as their pattern.

There are several patterns when it comes to flying and each of these must be learned and must be followed whenever instructed to do so. The first one is if you are told to go straight out from the one runway you are in the up wind. You may be told that you have to fly into the cross wind.

During the energy crisis of the 1970s, some companies began discussions on the feasibility of drilling in Antarctica. With technology advancement and increases in the price of oil, interest in these deposits will probably become more intense.

With laws enforced in 26 nations, each nation will be responsible for enforcing the rules individually. If a citizen from another country violate the treaty and its government does not intervene, other nations will then have to apply pressure to solve the problem. Whilst Micanopy surely has one of the highest number of antique shops per capita in the state, the city is amply rust streaked and mold spangled that the place somehow accomplishes the feat of not seeming twee. A plain, roadside building of sun-scorched boards, the Yearling, we found, was extremely serious about its rustic bona fides. A varnished gator hide, a Confederate flag and a rack of historic outboard motors trimmed the restaurant's walls. A local blues musician presided in the dining room, crooning to his dobro, while diners tucked into a menu of traditional fare. We ordered the "cracker appetizer plate," which included fried mushrooms, fried ingots of gator tail, fried green tomatoes and fried frog legs whose girth and musculature would have put a speed skater to shame.

The Yearling's owners also operate the nearby Lodge that rented Cabins, where we'd booked accommodations for the night. The lodge consists of seven humble cabins arrayed under a hangar of live oak limbs and echoes with the lusty belchings of bullfrogs in the nearby creek. "That's what's so great about it out here. This could never be Orlando. You could never get rid of all the banana spiders, palmetto bugs and snakes." "So awesome," she said. "It's the land that time forgot!

Norfolk is the beautiful county which is home to King's Lynn, once named Bishops Lynn until Henry VIII renamed it for himself. Lynn is a word from medieval English, and it is used to describe a tidal pool, which is the Oust at Kings Lynn, so this is actually both a port and a market town.

Founded in 1095, where a settlement grew up around a Benedictine Abbey, this area was part of an estate owned by one Bishop De Losinga. Rights to hold markets were granted in 1101 and this charming Norfolk Town is still a market town today. Starting on Valentines Day a great fair is still held for two weeks.

In the 12th Century Bishop Turbus a church was erected in the honor of the patron saint of sailors, St. Nicholas, and Kings Lynngrew to become a large and very important town with a population of around 5 500 residents. Salt, wool and grain were exported from this port, while timber, pitch iron and fish came in from Scandinavia by sea and this may have proved its downfall.

In 1331 a severe fire affected the town and perhaps this would have been fine had it happened after the Black Death which was brought in by Sailors in 1348. But unfortunately things never happen this way. The Black Death was already sweeping Europe and had it not been for trading ties, Britain's may never have suffered this calamity. When it reached Kings Lynn it wiped out half the population. The last plague outbreak was in 1665 and thatched roofs were also banned in 1572.

Trades people and religious order built guildhalls in the town and the St. Georges was one of the first built in 1406. This was made into a theatre in the 20th century, and in the 13th century the first stone wall was built to protect the town.

While it was till Bishops Lynn this town was a magnet for religious orders and the first religious guild building built was Thoresby College. It took ten years to build and building commenced in 1500. In 1537, no religious order was safe any longer with Henry VIII on the throne. Henry took over this town also, renaming it Kings Lynn and closing abbeys, friaries and priories.

As you can imagine, there is a good deal of very interesting historical aspect to be found in this town even today, and perhaps the most significant historical landmark is Greyfriars Tower.

This tower is the only part left surviving of a medieval Franciscan priory, and is also known as the Leaning Tower. It was decaying at a very rapid rate due to weather and subsidence, but has been restored and stabilized. It also features in the BBC's series of important restorations.

I use the hotel booking site, Hotwire.com frequently for my travels, most recently when I went to Tampa for New Year's (InterContinental for $99 per night, not including tax) and Jersey City, New Jersey at the end of January (Westin Jersey City, $129).

Hotwire is better than Priceline, in my opinion, because you don't have to figure out what price to set. Both sites are "opaque" - meaning that you need to buy the room before you know exactly what hotel it is. But it's easier to figure out what hotel you might be getting on Hotwire - and you don't have to go through Priceline's bidding process, whcih can take a while if your original offer is rejected.

If you are unfamiliar with Hotwire and want to use it for your next trip, here are a few tips:

1. Figure out what hotel you are getting before you buy. It's easier to do this on Hotwire than Priceline, because Hotwire offers more clues. Here's how to do it: Look at the hotel's amentiy list. That's a group of icons that appear under the hotel's location. Then open up another browser window to BetterBidding.com. That's a forum where frequenty Priceline and Hotwire users post recent buys and lists of what the different hotels offer.

For example, for my Tampa trip, I saw that the hotel I was considering had an airport shuttle icon on Hotwire. Of the four -star Tampa hotels listed on BetterBidding, only the InterContinental offered shuttle service. So I was 99% sure that I was going to end up there.

If you are like me and you want to know where you are staying, this extra step is worth it.

2. Don't forget tax. Priceline and Hotwire show their prices without tax, which can add $20 to $30 to your per-night rate. Factor this in when making your budget.

3. It's great for car rentals too. I've found car rentals on Hotwire for as low as $15 a day. What I like about Hotwire's car rental policy is that it's more flexible than their hotel purchases and they don't charge you until you pick up the car (hotel purchases are non-refundable and must be paid immediately).

4. Be realistic about the kind of hotel you are getting. Hotwire (and Priceline) specialize in getting rid of unused inventory - the rooms that hotels haven't sold. And generally, these hotels are going to be the larger chains such as Marriott, Hyatt and Hilton that often appeal to business travelers (which is why weekend rates can be so low). So you aren't going to find many boutique or independent hotels through the service. If your goal is to stay at the hippest hotel in town, you will be unhappy with Hotwire. Five star properties such as the Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons and Mandarin Oriental are usually not listed either.

But if you are just looking for a good deal on a city hotel that has basic four-star amenities, give Hotwire a try.
