Safety Ideas On Uk Flights- Things You Could Know About

By Saundra Hemmingway

If you haven't flown for the last ten years, you'll notice quite a few changes have taken place since the last time you boarded a plane. That is because many Western countries, namely the UK and the US have been victims of terror acts as well as attempted terror attacks. Now airports in these countries and all over the world have stepped up their security procedures. You have to stand in long lines to have your baggage and your person screened before you can board the plane. While inconvenient, there are steps that you can take to ensure that you can get through security quickly and easily. These tips go for UK flights as well as flights all around the world.

The first thing to think about is what you are carrying in your checked baggage. You can carry just about anything in the luggage itself as long as the total weight of the bag is twenty three kilograms or less. You also can't carry anything that is easily combustible, such as bleach or petroleum, or incendiary, such as fireworks.

However, before you pack for your trip, contact your specific airline. Some airlines, in an effort to save money, are charging you for each piece of checked baggage that you have, rather than give you the standard limit of free luggage. If you are only going to be gone for a few days, you might consider just putting everything into your carryon.

Because of all the terror attacks on airplanes, the security regulations governing carryon luggage is very strict. However, the rules are there for your safety, so it is best to follow them. For starters, you can have one piece of carryon luggage and then a secondary purse, briefcase, or laptop bag. You cannot pay extra to carry more on.

These additional pieces can be fairly large, but they cannot be confused with a suitcase otherwise you will be made to check another piece of luggage.

You also need to make sure that nothing is larger than fifty six centimeters by forty five centimeters by twenty five centimeters. This is to ensure that it will fit into the overhead container of the plane. A lot of airlines actually have boxes in which you can check the size of your carryon to make sure that it will fit. There are even some airlines that force you to weigh your carryon, but those are few and far between.

Additionally on all UK flights you need to regulate the amount of liquids and gels that you are taking on the plane. Essentially you can fill a single quart sized plastic bag with small bottles.

This is essentially the travel sized items that you would get in a store. All of these items need to be contained in a single clear plastic Ziploc bag. You will find that this rule is strictly enforced on UK flights as well as flights in most of Europe and North America. These rules are inconvenient, but they are there to keep you safe.
